On August 30 th 2017, Dr. Helmut Tober, a leading figure in the Austrian automotive and commercial vehicle publishing industry passed away, aged seventy-five. As founder of the Austrian magazine “firmenwagen”, Helmut was also responsible for the rise of the commercial vehicle magazine TRAKTUELL in its present form.

He also shaped news coverage of the automotive sector for many years in Austria. Helmut served as a member of the International Truck of the Year Award jury and was founding member of the International Van of The Year Award, established in 1992 and was part of the International Pick-up Award panel.

For decades, Dr. Helmut Tober was also a renowned and outstanding personality within the international automotive media scene, and will be will sadly missed.
